Spring/Summer '14

Hey! IT'S BEEN LONG OVERDUE. I'm still here, just needed some time to see where I wanted to go with my blog due to my upcoming absence I will be taking (again)...due to Military Basic Training.  So to make up for the many weeks passed....I will be highlighting the premiere events from this season including Jhene' Aiko breakout performance at Coachella Music Festival, Met Gala, the upcoming Free Press Summer Festival in Houston, TX and this spring's biggest fashion trends that I find awesome. As well as new indie music artists I'm listening to currently, new designers, and "What I Wore".

Jhene' and Fellow L.A. based musician Childish Gambino
Let's started with what I would call the most coveted music festival of the season Coachella Music Festival 2014 . Takes place annually in the valley of Indio, California mid April.  This years line up was full of big list artists as well as many up and rising stars. Including: OUTKAST (OMG I was so ready to see a reunion for the hands down best rap duo of a generation), Muse, and Arcade Fire Headlined the showcase. Appearances from Beck, Haim, Nas, Pharrell, Childish Gambino, and Drake to name a few. The style star of the party in the valley had to be hands down songbird Jhene' Aiko, L.A. native singer who has appeared on some A-List star's tracks over the past 13 months (like Drake's From Time from 2013 NWTS, Kendrick Lamar's Growing Apart on his Overly Dedicated LP).  Jhene' rocked the epitome of festival style which in a way has become a signature event for spring/summer fashion trends. #Culture

Fall/Winter Staples: The Oversized Coat

Ok, now that most of us have came down from our sugar rush and  post Halloween hangovers . Lets get back to business.  Here are a few of this season's most buzzworthy Fall/Winter 2013 must have... none other than the coveted OVERSIZED COAT. From inspirations including military styles, playful colors , mixed-media textures, and asymmetrical/architectural designs these are some of the trends that every fashionista must have. The Trench Coat has always been a go to for outerwear. Its very versatile and chic, whether you dress it up with skyscraper heels or give it edge appeal with combat style military boots this is one all around class act, also another trend I have seen with the trench in particular is the featuring of mixing different textures commonly termed mixed-media. Like the one I have shown here from Sam Edelman that can be found at Dillard's , alongside this ravishing Steve Madden trench with faux leather arms. Next in the line up is the oh so sophisticated Cocoon ...

Erin M. Riley Provacative Weaving, Art Basel Miami 2013 #Culture

Erin M. Riley Tapestry Collection of Erin M. Riley Tapestries Erin M. Riley is a Philadelphia based Tapestry artist. She has been in the spotlight here lately due to her innovative approach, to what is often considered "boring", and outdated skill of the past knitting. Yes the images that you are looking at are hand loomed one of a kind masterpieces by the 28 year old artist. These tapestries are thought provoking and flat out sexy. They bring the viewer in and make them feel almost like they are doing something they shouldn't be doing. Very risque so to speak. From images of the current trend of "selfies" but not the common selfie that you would post to your social media portal of your choice, oh no. We are talking after hours, one too many drinks, "Wyd stranger ;p"? at 1:30 am on a Saturday night selfie. The ones that bear it all. From fully depicted images of the female anatomy to obscene drug use, and binge drinking . These modern wor...
