Fall/Winter Staples: The Oversized Coat

Ok, now that most of us have came down from our sugar rush and  post Halloween hangovers. Lets get back to business.  Here are a few of this season's most buzzworthy Fall/Winter 2013 must have... none other than the coveted OVERSIZED COAT. From inspirations including military styles, playful colors, mixed-media textures, and asymmetrical/architectural designs these are some of the trends that every fashionista must have. The Trench Coat has always been a go to for outerwear. Its very versatile and chic, whether you dress it up with skyscraper heels or give it edge appeal with combat style military boots this is one all around class act, also another trend I have seen with the trench in particular is the featuring of mixing different textures commonly termed mixed-media. Like the one I have shown here from Sam Edelman that can be found at Dillard's, alongside this ravishing Steve Madden trench with faux leather arms. Next in the line up is the oh so sophisticated Cocoon Coat these vintage style icons first emerged in the 1920's and have been revamped this season in a array of colors and designs. I have yet to see any that are in a reasonable price range (under $200.00 USD) but it is an item that I would save up for, or if in the mood splurge on the one I have depicted here is from asos which is a steal for only $160.00 (USD). You could also find them in many vintage shops or thrift/resale stores since they are pretty retro. Finally lets give you that POP of color to brighten up these long, cold winter nights with the playful hues that have been emerging this year with Color Blocking/ Bright Color coats. You will most definitely stand out in these eye catchers with colors ranging from bright red, pastel pinks, and baby blues. Keep it buttoned up or give it that loose fit for perfect layering ability. So be on the look out for these winter cold busters that will be sure to keep you warm and cozy in the upcoming winter months.

Erin M. Riley Tapestry Collection of Erin M. Riley Tapestries Erin M. Riley is a Philadelphia based Tapestry artist. She has been in the spotlight here lately due to her innovative approach, to what is often considered "boring", and outdated skill of the past knitting. Yes the images that you are looking at are hand loomed one of a kind masterpieces by the 28 year old artist. These tapestries are thought provoking and flat out sexy. They bring the viewer in and make them feel almost like they are doing something they shouldn't be doing. Very risque so to speak. From images of the current trend of "selfies" but not the common selfie that you would post to your social media portal of your choice, oh no. We are talking after hours, one too many drinks, "Wyd stranger ;p"? at 1:30 am on a Saturday night selfie. The ones that bear it all. From fully depicted images of the female anatomy to obscene drug use, and binge drinking . These modern wor...
